High end wakes

Filed under: Uncategorized — bukaneg @ 4:21 am

i’ve been to a wake in sanctuario de san antonio in forbes park last weekend.  i sincerely mean no disrespect to the dead i visited nor to her relatives–they are a family of heroes.  these are just my observations that i can’t help but write down:

the rich pala observe pamahiins i (wrongly) assumed were exclusive to the poor and the barriotic.  like, they believe that it’s malas to make walis the fallen leaves and flowers of wreaths or any dumi on the parlor’s floor.  but it’s okey to make pulot na lang the kalat.

the higher the office one occupies in government, the less time he spends in a wake.  the problem is, he has to visit each parlor even as he originally intended to visit just one.

the typical wake of a dead rich is so boring.  i never imagined a pinoy lamay without saklaan in the yard, a mahjong table or two going and half a dozen pusoy dos or tong-its groups playing.

nearly no one eats at a dead rich’s lamay.  the food are for the poor relatives only.

as bad as a parlor smells when it is full of wreaths, it smells just as bad when a roomful of matrons wage a battle of perfumes.

assumption college high school batch ‘66 alumnae has a committee that takes care of sending wreaths to dead members or their relatives.

so grabe!
